Seoul Bund HWA

‘Seoul Bund 和 (Hwa)’ is a collaboration project between Seoul Bund and other Korean brands. Under the theme of Korean Culture, we bring various brands together to create products that suits for daily usage and presents an intricate balance between traditional and modern Korea.

‘Seoul Bund和’はデザインナー・職人と共に韓国の伝統・文化を活かし、日常生活に自然に溶け込めるような製品を創るコラボレーションブランドです。毎日使えるように、モダンでありながら、文化価値のある商品を作り始めました。このプロジェクトに通じて、デザイン・韓国文化を人々に伝わることを願っています。

The beauty of contemporary Soban, Soban Tray

In Cho Sun dynasty (AC 1392~1910), no matter which social-hierarchy, people were able to possess and use ‘Soban(소반)’ in daily life.  Back then, people used to sit, eat, sleep and practice other activities on the floor, so Soban was an important daily product which everyone used. Today, due to modernization and westernization, people sit on chair, eat on high dining table, sleep on mattress; therefore, traditional Soban is no longer a common product that people use in daily life.

Seoul Bund collaborate with Container 5-1, a family owned furniture studio, to produce Soban Tray a movable tray and table that suits modern Korean lifestyle. We hope the traditional Korean culture of Soban could be pass on to generations through our product, Soban Tray.

モダナイズした「ソバン（소반）」、ソバントレイ

朝鮮時代（AC 1392〜1910年）では、どの社会階級であっても、日常生活の中でソバン(소반)を所有し使用することができます。当時、人々の生活はほぼ床で行われ、座って食事をしたり、寝たりしますので、ソーバンは誰もが使っていた重要な日用品でした。現在、西洋化のため、人々は椅子に座って、高い食卓で食べ、マットレスで寝ます。そのため、伝統的な「ソバン」はもはや人々が普段に使う日常用品ではなくなりました。今回、‘ソバントレイ’ はContainer 5-1 の工匠とコラボ、歴史のあるソバン(소반)をモダンなデザインに変身しました。

The simplicity of the wood and steel of Soban Tray capture the traditional culture and lifestyle that Korean ancestors practice back in the olden days. Unlike the traditional Soban which is generally in round shape, Soban Tray is in both rectangular and square shape. Also, with an appropriate length designed to allow people to use it not only for a tray but also as a movable desk for reading, dining, and tea drinking.

昔の形（円形）とは違って、適切な長さで長方形・四角形の形をデザインに変更しました。「ソバントレイ」はトレーとして使うことだけではなく、読書、食事、茶飲みとしても便利に使用できいるムービングデスクです。

The stand of Soban Tray is made with steel, with the stand Soban Tray creates a layer on top of the table. The space underneath allows some small item storage such as napkins and make your table top more organized than ever! The clam and uniqueness of Soban Tray could also be an individual object as a part of your interior decoration. We coat the tray with natural plant oil, unlike other ordinary wood trays, it is safe to place food directly on top of the tray for direct serving to guests. Try this unique and trendy serving tray for your friends, love ones, and guests. At last Soban Tray could even be use as a cutting board to add some more fun to your kitchen. The first and only ‘smart’ tray which contain both design quality and functionality.

Soban Tray is made with high quality American black walnut wood and Japanese false cypress wood, these materials have high endurance and long preservation. Enable to achieve the finest quality, the materials are carefully picked and handmade by the craftsman until the final touch.  Soban Tray is a movable tray represents craftsmanship and the beauty of living design.

職人のこだわ

今回、木製家具ブランド「コンテナ5-1」とコラボして、現代韓国生活に合ったトレー・サイドテーブル「ソバントレイ」を創りました。
高品質な「ウォルナット」と保存性に優れた「ヒノキ」を材料として作りました。
質にこだわり、材料選びから最後のオイルフィニッシュまで細かく丁寧に手作業をします。その職人精神・長年の経験しかできない細かさに感動します。

Container 5-1 is a family run furniture making studio.  Father has been making furniture for over 40 years, and his daughter and son are now designers working with their father. They love to customize products for individual and families, and love to collaborate with brands to create unique and challenging products utilizing their knowledge and experiences.

Management & Precaution

Management for long term usage

Enable to use Soban Tray for a long time, customer needs to follow the basic management methods for wood product. Wood furniture expands and contracts constantly, may be subject to bending and twisting depending on the humidity level. Therefore, avoid placing the product near air conditioner and heating equipment. To prevent the formation of mold, please keep the product in good ventilation environment and place it on flat surface to keep the shape at its best.

Easy Management

- Use smooth dry cloth to clean gently, do NOT use cleaning chemicals.

- If wet towel is used, remove the water with a dry cloth afterward.

- To clean spots and stains, use plant oil (olive oil, bean oil etc.) with a dry cloth.

Reminders and Cautions

Please do NOT use chemicals to clean the product. Due to the characteristics of wood, there may have color and pattern variations. Please carefully read through the above introduced rules before purchase. After purchase please keep the above rules in mind to keep the product at the best shape and condition for a long time.

注意事項・管理方法

製品を長くきれいに使用方法

ソバントレイは原木製品でございます。必ず原木管理方法に従って商品を管理してください。原木製品は環境に影響しやすい、歪むことや割れる場合がございます。長く綺麗に使用するため、必ずエアコンまたは冷たい風・直火を避けてください。また、カビを防止するため、商品必ず風通し良いところに保管してください。形を維持するため、できるだけ、商品を水平に置いてください。

原木のお手入れ簡単！

普段乾いた布で拭き取り、水に濡れた場合、すぐ乾いた布で拭き取ればいいです。汚れた場合、植物油（オリーブオイル・大豆油など）を乾いた布に付け、商品に軽く磨くと綺麗に長く使うことができます。

化学製品に触れないようにご注意ください。木材の木目が様々なので、色・木目模様は写真と異なる場合がございますので、予めご了承ください。ご購入前に必ず注意事項・管理方法などをしっかり読んでください。商品を長く使うため、ご購入後、必ず上記の管理方法に従って使用してください。
